For example, I want to know if, in my town Plainview, NY 11803, recycles cardboard. If so can I put it ith the rest of my recyclables? Can someone tell me what it is or if and what the website is that can tell me this information. (Note: I have tried Recycle.net, Recycle.com, and various community websites. It doesn't tell me)

  1. Well, if they do they are keeping it a secret! I spent 20 minutes looking for the info and all I got was a few addresses and phone numbers but no info on what can be recycled. Good luck!

  2. You should go down to your CIty Hall and ask someone who works there, or ask the people who pick up your recycling if they know anything.

  3. Your best bet is to contact your city / town / village hall directly.  Most communities offer recycling guidelines and material to help you properly recycle according to the guidelines they have established.  The materials I've seen for a variety of smaller communities in Washington, Michigan, Illinois and Maryland are all well done and very easy to follow.

If they don't have a copy available online, I'm sure you can stop by the administration building for your municipality and pick up a copy there.

Good luck.  Glad to hear your proactively getting on board with recycling there in New York!
