How can I find out all the background info on the horses running in Preakness?

I am a green banana to horse racing and am wondering how to find out alllllll the background information on the horses running in Preakness?

best thing would be for you to find a friend who goes to the track often and have them go over the daily racing form with you for the past performances of the horses scheduled to run in the Preakness...the form itself and publications for speed handicapping will prove confusing when you look at them and someone familiar with them will be able to take the time and explain it all to you, provided its not the day of the race, as that could be a bit distracting to teach as the races are being run, especially if the person helping you is playing the days races, race by race... just remember not to wager more than you can afford to lose and try to have some fun...
