How can I find out if I'm on a "no-fly" list?

I'm planning a trip overseas, and buying tickets is a major hassle. I don't even want to buy one if I can't fly. So how do I find out? A quick web search didn't turn up anything useful...

  1. Youll find out when you try to book a flight

  2. That info is never released.

When you buy your tickets and check in at the ticket counter certain things happen on the computer screen that require the agent to take certain action if he/she can not proceed in checking you in.

    Sorry to be so vague...

  3. Odd question. WHY do you want to know? Why would you think you are even on it?

  4. You wont know until you try to book a flight. You might get an SSS on your ticket which means that youll get an extra search. That happened to me, but it was not that big of a problem (not the take your pants off and bend over type of search...). If you had this (sss), they would probably look through all of your things and that would be the end of it. Also, watch what literature you bring with you, dont take anything radical ; )

  5. You can't; they don't release that information.
