How can I find out if a friend is ok in Iraq??

Question

I don't know his family or next of kin but have not heard form him in a while. Anyone know of a way to find out?

your not his mom or wife no one will give you any info on anyone over there

If your friends next of kin have not been notified of anything, he's just fine.  They don't send out progress reports, etc.  There isn't always time to write, call or email, and often in a blackout, they can't anyway.

Remember that "NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS".  If something has happened to him, someone will come KNOCK ON THE DOOR of the person who he has designated.  I reccomend trying to locate the family.  You cannot contact him in Iraq other than writing/emailing.  You should not bother a command with questions like these, you just have to understand that this is not happy-fun-time, and they are often working 12-18 hour days... they don't always have time/energy to write, and lines for phones can be hours long.

You'd have to get in touch with his family and ask them. If he's a good friend, I'm sure his mom/wife/whoever wouldn't mind you checking up on him. Do you ever get in touch with him via motomail?

Does he have a my-space or a account on face-book? My son is able to contact me that way- i write him a little blurb & he will answer me back. I know of no other way-  i think the salvation army could if you were next of kin, but i am not positive they would for just a friend.

Nope..All you can do is ask his family or friends and you need not jump to conclusions..

my dad just returned from iraq, and as far as our communication with him, it was all up to him.. we could only talk to him when he was available. there is no number to call. internet access is most likely the only way.

Well you could google his name and see if it comes up in the KIA list. If not then he is alive.
