How can I find out if my ex partner had shares during our marriage and did not declare them at divorce?

  1. Did you file joint tax returns during your marriage?  If so, and the shares paid dividends, they should appear on Schedule B of your 1040.  As a taxpayer on the return, you should be able to get copies of past returns from the IRS.  I would have thought that your attorney would have demanded copies of your ex's brokerage account statements to identify hidden assets, but if he had a hidden account, I can't think of an easy way for learn about it.


  2. You can just bet on it.  Every husband tries to hide assets if he feels that "he earned them".   Good luck in finding them. You'd have to remember the name of his stockbroker and hope that she would help you.
