    Look in the Soldiers/Sailors Database

  2. g_ebbes has the answer above. I've used CyberIllinois to learn a great deal about my husband's AMOLD family from Illinois. There are also marriages, census records, etc. there. It's a wonderful site! Good luck. ♥ ∞

PS: Watch for spelling errors with your family too. Try different variations of DALEY (i.e. DALLEY, DALLAY, etc.) to make sure you've looked everywhere. ♥ ∞

  3. If you go to http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/depart... and click on 'Search the Illinois Civil War Muster and Descriptive Rolls database now' you can search for people who fought in the civil war from IL.  It also gives their name and place of residence.  I only see one Patrick Daley, but about 5 Patrick Dailey's.  Maybe one of these is yours.  It looks like some of the Dailey's may have been born in the early 1830's.

  4. One way is to order his military service record; however that costs quite a bit and takes a long time. It's really, really interesting though.

I can help you figure out narrow down which one is him if you know any further information such as the name of his wife and what county he lived in. The only Patrick in IL I see on the pension list is married to Rebecca; he's the one who fought in the 101st Regiment. If that's not him, there are a few others.

  5. Could this be the right Catherine & Patrick??

    www.familysearch.org

    CATHARINE DONEVAN

    Marriages:

      Spouse:  PATRICK DELAY

Marriage:  04 JUL 1860   , De Witt, Illinois

Or could this be the right one?? It's an application for a Civil War pension:

    Publication Number: T289

Publication Title: Organization Index to Pension Files of Veterans Who Served Between 1861 and 1900.

    Publisher: NARA

    State: Illinois

    Arm Of Service: Infantry

    Regiment: 101

    Company: E

    Name: Daley, Patrick

    Rank: Private.

Date: 16 Dec 1887 (when he applied for the pension)

    State/arm Of Service: Ill. Inf.

    Company/regiment: Company E,101st Regiment

    Collection Title: Civil War Pensions

If the pension application is right, here's his Civil War listing:

    U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865

    Name: Patrick Daley

    Side: Union

    Regiment State/Origin: Illinois

    Regiment Name: 101 Illinois Infantry

Regiment Name Expanded: 101st Regiment, Illinois Infantry

    COMPANY: E

    Rank In: Private

    Rank In Expanded: Private

    Rank Out: Private

    Rank Out Expanded: Private

    Film Number: M539 roll 21
