I have recently purchased an Internet package from TM Net in Malaysia for 512Kbps Download / 256Kbps upload speed, but I have a feeling the speed is much less than what i applied for.

maximum speed that I get for download is 40 KB/S using any software.

  1. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

Give this test a go, seems to work nicely for me no matter what american server I pick and I live in England

  2. Speedtest.net is what I always use. The catch is that you have to close down everything else that may be using internet. That means IM (if you have it), any applications, any other windows, etc, as they are using part of your bandwidth, so you wont get an accurate reading. For example, you have 512 kbps, MSN uses 250kbps, some game you have open usues 100kps... it'll show 150.

And don't expect to get a reading of 512. It should be around 425 (alot of things use bandwidth that you can't turn off)

  3. go to one of the speed test websites and run the test online.

    http://www.speedtest.net/ is one of them

  4. Try this place they are great.

  5. You should be getting a max of 64KB/S download and 32KB/S upload.  You can check your speed at http://www.speedtest.net.

Currently mine is 7497kbps (973KB/S) download and 494kbps (61.75KB/S) upload.  Pretty close to, but not exactly the advertised speed of 8.0mbps
