How can I find out the history of a divorce lawyer...cases won & lost, etc.?

There's no place where such statistics are kept.  Moreover, there are no clear winners and losers in divorce cases.  Getting input from people who have experience with divorce lawyers is probably a better way of getting information.

You need to find out "reputation." Also, can you afford the best?

If you have a local law school you could call the alumni office.

A lot of people are doing mediation now, though, which leaves fewer wounds.

It won't have a record of won/lost cases, but www.martindale.com will have education, awards,expertise, etc.

Gee- I don't know... If I was one of those scoundrels, I sure wouldn't want the World to know my "history" of ruining people's financial Lives!  :0

http://www.martindale.com will give you a little information, but you may want to talk to the bar association in any state where your lawyer opperates for more detailed answers. You will always encounter the warning that prior victories are no guarantee of future success.
