  1. I found a website that has death records online:  www.labs.familysearch.org.  The death records on the most part lists the maiden surname of the deceased.  I think Ohio is available and another state but can't remember which one.  They are adding more databases as time goes on...   good site!

Okay, Michigan, Ohio, Texas, WVA, Washington and Utah death certificates are available on this site.  They have other research categories as well.

  2. If you're talking about family in the US, the best place to start looking is the US census. Try to find your great grandfather in the census as an older adult, then find him at a younger age. You'll find basic information on his parents there.

  3. UK answer.

It would really help if you were to give an indication as to which country your ancestors lived in and what years do you need help with.

  4. rootsweb.com is a free question and answer forum, where you can post a query for others who are researching the same names.

List all info you have for your grandfather and his father, in your query.

Check the message boards. Perhaps, others are searching for info on your great-grandfather, as well.

    P.S.

List the info here; perhaps someone with a membership to a genealogy website can help you.

  5. It is highly possible they are not online.  If you have checked genealogy sites and cannot find him and his parents anywhere, then you will have to research for the records yourself.  Not everything is online.
