How can I find out what Indian tribe my great grandma was from?

  1. This could be easy and it could be very difficult. The fact that a person was of Native-American Blood generations ago was often not something that one admitted.  Therefore this ancestry was denied or at best hidden. Locate where your Great-Grandparents were born or at least raised or married.  The locality may have been also an area where Native-Americans once were living and that would be a strong clue to follow.  Death certificates are wonderful sources of information if available.  You may find "Unknown" in the blank on the document that would usually answer you question. Keep searching and you will know someday.
