I sent them away around April 7th. I have heard nothing so far. This seems really late.

  1. It should be processed by now if you had a refund coming.    But, because of the rebate, everything is taking longer than normal.  What normally takes 8-12 weeks seems to be taking 12-20 weeks this year.  If you had a refund and the state, or child support or a delinquent school loan is out there, your refund may have been taken to pay those bills.  Another possibility is that something flagged your return and it got set aside to be reviewed.  It seems that if that were the case, you would have received a letter or notice by now.

Follow Judy's instructions and check to make sure your refund has not been processed and got lost in the mail, or put in the wrong bank account or something...

That is one reason to file electronically - I filed my return July 7th, had my refund July 18th and my rebate July 25th.

If you had a balance due - it could take them 12-20 weeks to process the return and another two weeks to process the rebate.  That means you are at week sixteen and it could be another month or more...

I would wait one more week, and if you have not heard from the IRS, call them next week - 1-800-TAX-1040

  2. contact IRS, since you have not heard anything more than likely your return was not received by the IRS, or if you file on-line your return may have been rejected.

have you check IRS website "wheresmyrefund"

  3. If you have a refund coming, check irs.gov and go to "where's my refund" to see if it's been processed.  Otherwise you could try to call and ask.  Things are pretty slow this year with all the stimulus filings and many amendments, but it does seem like it should be processed by now.
