  1. You might try:

    http://www.army.mod.uk/contacts/division...

    or..

    Army Personnel Centre

    HQ Secretariat

    Historical Disclosures

    Mail Point 400

    Kentigern House

    65 Brown Street

    Glasgow

    G2 8EX

    Tel: 0845 600 9663, option 1, then option 3

They should be able to advise you

  2. First you need to find out what company or platoon he was in and what regiment or battalion they were under. If you have any pictures of him in uniform this could be determined by someone in a war museum or legion. Once you get that you can get a idea of what he did by finding out where his company or platoon was assigned. The only way you can know specifically what he did would be through letters he wrote home. Although I expect those would be rather vague as they were instrcucted never to be too specific in letters home.

If you have any medal or decorations from his uniform these would be really good too. Your best bet will be a war museum.

You could also ask at the Royal British Legion in Doncaster, +44 1709 858067, perhaps they could help locate someone who remebers him.

    Good Luck
