Question:

How can I find out what my wedding color is "named"?

I know what color I want, but I can only identify it by name in the David's Bridal catalog.

I will need the name of the color for tux accents and bridesmaid dresses. (they may or may not be purchased at DB)

Is there a website that I can look at to find the common name for my color?

any help is great! Thanks

  1. There is no such thing as an "official" color name.  Every designer has a different name for the same color.  For instance, there's a pale green that David's calls "Honeydew".  Dessy calls it "Kiwi" and Mori Lee calls it "Seafoam".  You really can't say, "I need a dress in Blue Velvet" and expect that any other designer or shop will have their colors marked that way.  The only way to be sure is to match swatches or order everything from the same place.

  2. I would call that a Royal Blue, myself. To ensure color matching, I'd get a swatch from DB and take it to wherever you get your dresses/tuxes. FYI, if you do end up getting the dresses at DB, Men's Wearhouse will be able to match your tux accents since they're owned by the same parent company.

  3. Well whats the name that David's Bridal gave it?

  4. Google 'color chart' under the image function.

  5. Ask David's Bridal to give you or order a swatch - they must have tons of them - then you could carry it with you where ever you need to match something.

This is the color I presume you are talking about it says Blue Velvet.  The color you are looking for is called Royal Blue.  Hope that helps
