How can I find out where there is CCTV in my local area?

I don't want to plan a crime or anything! I just want to know for my personal safety.

  1. why would you want to know, ? does it matter

    they are now a part of life we just have to live with them


  2. Look around and up.  

  3. Look up planning applications. I think they all have to be applied for safe guarding public privacy.

  5. If you are in the UK , I think you can ask your local council under the Freedom of Information Act

    It might not list all the private CCTV.


  6. This depends on if you are talking about the council's cameras or business premises.  The council should be able to tell you where their cameras are but if you need to find those used and run by businesses then your only real option is looking for the cameras yourself.
