  1. If you reside in the UK contact the DVLA.Go to http://www.dvla.gov.uk/ for more information. You should be able to get a copy of your vehicles log book from them

  2. Go to your Division of Motor Vehicles and ask them to run the VIN, or pull up the title number, and see if they will tell you who it was previously registered to.

The title number should be on your registration card, if you have registered the vehicle.

If it was a brand new car, or a used car, and you bought it from a dealership, you should remember what the name of the dealership is, and they should have copies of the transactions.

You could go to your LOCAL insurance agent and have him/her to run a C.L.U.E. report (Comprehensive Loss and Underwriting Exchange) on the vehicle. Whether or not there was any previous damge, it should show the former owner and the names of the members of the household.

The agency may ask you for reimbursement of his fee, if any, for pulling the report, if you are not a current policyholder of the agency.

On the other hand, if you are his/her customer, or potentially may be, he/she may do it as a convenience to you, without reimbursement of the charge.

    Hope this helps.

  3. You pay a fee to the DMV and get a copy of the title history report.

They will only let you do this, if you are the currently titled, or past titled, owner of the car.

  4. Didn't you buy it from the dealer?
