How can I find salvage yards or scrap yards in my city?

I am looking to feed my hobby of using salvaged junk to make assemblage art and found object art. I want to know how to go about finding salvage yards that let people walk around and take things which are then priced and payed for. I live in Dallas, and the companies I have found so far only buy metals, they don't sell scraps.
