My itinerary includes Amsterdam as one of the stoppages. I have to stay there for a night and then make a move in the morning. What can be the cheapest way of staying overnight?

  1. check here: http://www.europe-hotels.gr/

  2. The site I use for hotels in the Netherlands is http://www.hotels.nl/. I've been making several trips per year for several years and have always found this reliable. If you're looking for cheap, you might want to try one of the hostels. You can try checking here: http://www.hostelamsterdam.com/. I know there's a Flying Pig between the train station and Dam Square on Kalverstraat.http://www.flyingpig.nl/

  3. I just did the exact trip you are describing, and I stayed a night in the City Center at a hostel, in a shared room for 18 euros.  Also, I left all of my bags in the airport in a locker, for another 3 euros.  Then I took the train to the city center.  Whatever you do, do take a taxis.  They charge about 100 euros for a trip from the airport to the city center.  Anyway, I hope the helps

  4. I would look for a small hostel somewhere in the city centre. If you are facing the Palace at the Dam (Paleis op de Dam), walk in the opposite directions past the big hotel. You will be going in the direction of the coffee shops (which don't serve coffee) and red light district, and you will probably find some cheap places there. This doesn't mean I would recommend you to go to a prostitute though, don't get me wrong, but this is an area of the city where you can spend a night for hardly any money.

After that, travelling through the Netherlands is easy. Trains are widely used, and you can ask for information about how to use them at service desks. Larger cities almost always have trams, and buses are available in any part of the country. Since most Dutch people speak at least some basic English, asking for directions won't be too difficult. For more information about the Netherlands, please see the link below. I also posted a link to an article about the Dutch public transportation.

If you have any further questions, you are welcome to contact me personally via the link to the contact form on my website. I don't like to post my e-mail address here sorry.

    I hope this helps :)
