  1. I would say the town hall{La Mairie} or the prefecture if the town has one.


  2. In France,by law, all births, marriages and deaths in France are recorded  the local MAIRIE (town hall) and obtainable from the "ETAT CIVIL"section. The registers are available for consultation to anyone and copies of certificates are sent to those who require them free of charge. I have  obtained copies for those of my children born in France without any problems. You have to provide names, dates and the reason for your enquiry.

    Saint-Laurent-des-Bois is a small place and the Mairie is only open for a few hours on specific mornings, but you can write to:
