I installed a Word 2003 add-on that uses a particular shortcut Ctrl+Shft+M for it's macro. But somehow, in my installation the shortcut is disabled so I assumed the key combination is being used by another thing. How can I find which one?

Note. I don't know the name of the Macro I want to link to the shortcut so I can't do it manually.

  1. Here is how to check what it's short cut macro is.

Start button>All Programs>Microsoft Office> right click on MS word> properties.. In the short cut key section it will show your button combination macro. You can create your own. As long as it doesnt conflict with another already used combo.

Note: once you type a combo into the short cut section if another program opens up you know its used. Windows will not allow 2 programs to have the same short cut combo...

  2. While Word is open:

    Click the Tools Menu

    Click Customize

Under the Commands tab, click Keyboard...(at the bottom)

    Under Categories:, select All Commands

Then all of the commands will show under the Commands: list

At this time, you can scroll through the Commands: list to see what key combinations Word has assigned.

FYI: Ctrl+Shift+M was assigned to UnIndent.

Under Current keys:, you can Remove the current shortcut or assign a different one.

When you click on the shortcut combination in this window, Remove becomes an option, so click that.

To assign a new shortcut, click in the box under Press new shortcut key:, and press the new shortcut you want to assign. Then click Assign.

    Click Close

    Click Close again

I hope this makes sense and helps!
