How can I finish certain prerequisites for a Masters after already graduating college?

I just finished undergraduate University in a psychology major and never took any sciences classes. However, I've been recently looking into a career in Occupational Therapy which requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics as prerequisites for a Masters in O.T. Can I apply and finished these classes in the undergraduate school and move up to the Graduate program after finishing? Or do I just have to go back to another college (which is expensive) to finish these up?

Does anyone have any experience?

  1. You may attend any accredited college to fulfill your prerequisite requirements. You'll be registered as a non-matriculated student. Meaning, a student who is attending college not for the purpose of earning a degree. I recommend either go to your local state college/university or your community college for the classes to save money. Upon completion of the classes, send the transcript from your undergrad and the college you went for the prerequisites to your school for the Master's OT.

  2. You can take them as a non-degree student, either at the university or a local community college.  You don't need to be enrolled to do this, and you can pay by the credit hour.

  3. You can always go back to your undergraduate school for more classes after you graduate.

To cut costs, you can take basic science pre-requisites at community colleges, but make sure the OT program will accept community college classes at this point. Many schools offer post-grad science classes for people just like you, since people often decide they want to go to nursing or medical school once they have their bachelors degree. Check college websites for these programs.
