How can I fix a digital camera with an 'lens error' message?

The other day my brothers were playing with my sisters digital camera and it fell. My sister took it from then and try to shut it off but, it had a message that said ' error with lens'. It was a Nikon. Do I have to go and get a new one or is there some type of trick to get it back together ? Can I get It fixed without paying the prices of a new one ?

when i switch my camera on, the screen shows ERROR 3 and i was wounderind if you new what that means and how i can get my camera to take pictures again
