  1. squirt some contact cleaner in the switch with the key off.  go in the house and eat dinner and come back and try the switch again.

Sometimes dirt will cause the switch contacts to short across.

  2. typically it would be the multi-function switch, or possibly a short in the circuit.  Test in this order.

  3. Check you left blinker bulb - it is probably has two filiments in it - one for the blinker, one for the hazards.  If the blinker filiment broke and connected with the hazard filiment, this could cause your problem.

  4. Must be an older model car.

Here is a simple solution that really works. Spray WD-40 down into your 4 way flasher switch, now  work the switch for about 5 minutes on, then off, on and off. Now see if the problem is fixed. All electrical lighting wiring goes through this only up open switch and over the years, dirt and crud build up in the contacts. The WD-40 re-lubes the contacts and cleans out the crud.

  5. It is definately a shortcut. Blinker bulbs do not have two filaments. Only some older vehicle types have combined bulbs 21/5W or 18/5W, used for the rear lights and the brake lights.

  6. Now that's a new one on me. Are you sure that it's just the rear rear left and right blinkers when the turn signal switch is set for left turn and not both front and rear? If front and rear I'd say the turn signal switch was faulty but with just the rear, it's hard to say what the cause is without being able to troubleshoot in person.

  7. lol, sounds like some sort of electrical problem.

you can use a multimeter on points of connection, (if you know what your doing), or take it to an auto-electrician

could be a "short" in wiring somewhere
