I don't know how to fix this, I'm dropping my right shoulder so much that my right elbow is dropping, and my right elbow is dropping so much it's passing my left elbow.

Although the last one is tough to tell, I'm still doing it. I really don't know what to do.

  1. First you need to fix your stance.

Photo 96: Your knuckles aren't lined up properly; your hands are wrapped around the bat too tightly. You need to line up the middle knuckles of both hands. It appears that you're leaning over the plate. Don't lean; you'll be off-balance. Get the bat off your shoulder.

You want to be loose and relaxed so you can react quicker and swing through the ball.

Photo 100: Good hip action. That's exactly what you want. But you're not looking at the ball; you're looking about seven to eight feet in front of the plate while the ball is almost past you. Result: You swung late and didn't hit the ball solidly.

Photo 102: Again, you look uptight. Your knuckles aren't lined up properly. You appear to be strangling the bat handle. Your weight doesn't appear to be distributed more to your back leg. Relax the grip. Align the middle knuckles. Loosen the wrists. Get the bat off your shoulder. Put more weight on your back leg.

  2. First, stand up a little more in your stance. It is not necessary or even a good idea for your swing to be completely level and parallel to the ground. Pitches low in the strike zone can be hit just fine by dropping the barrel of the bat while your hands are still at or about waist level. It looks like you are crouching to try to make your swing completely parallel to the ground and that is causing you to drop your hands, and thus your right elbow and shoulder.

Second, it seems like your right hand is the dominant hand and it is driving the swing. It should be your left hand that pulls your bat through the strike zone. Work on some one handed drills to build up strength and dominance in your left hand so that it is leading the way and your right hand will not pull so much and pull with it your elbow and shoulder.

Third, get a tee and work the one handed drills off the tee to create a comfortable, smooth, consistant swing.

    Good luck.

  3. you are over striding i had the same prob. the huge step in you swing causes you to drop you shoulder a lot.so just practice taking a smaller step and hitting at the batting cages or off a tee. if you wont stop taking a such a big step while practicing tape your foot to the floor. i know it sounds stupid but that's what me coach did to me.so practice hitting while taking know step that loosen the tape so you can take a small step do this and swing 100 times a day off a tee and when you get to a real pitcher you will automatically take a smaller step.

  4. Your base looks good and you seem to be pretty balanced which is great.  Your hands are in a good position.  The elbow dropping was the only thing that I noticed.  I really dont know any ways of correcting that other then keeping your elbow up in your stance andit should translate to your swing.  Just take some soft toss into a fence and do the best you can to keep your elbow up.

  5. ur dropping ur elbow and ur shoulder so when u swing ur not gonna hit it anywhere and if u keep the way ur swingin' up ur bound to hurt yourself

  6. im sry but you cant fix something like this over the internet, get a lesson

  7. You are over striding.  Your bottom half is getting way out in front of you upper half.  Work on your weight transfer and your hip movement with some soft toss or tee hitting.  Maybe start with your feet closer together if you still want to take a big stride.

  8. It looks like your right elbow is way too far inside. I bet you hit a lot of groundballs.

Maybe watch some old tape of Joe Morgan.

  9. You gotta work on the elbow and it looks like you are leaning on your front foot instead of your back foot. Keep your weight back and that will help. I assume you hit a lot of ground balls with that swing right now.

  10. ok you are def. right about dipping your shoulder way to much. you want to keep your elbows up.your elbows are pointing out. you may want to start with your feet closer together. remember also to keep your knuckles locked.

you are also bending that back knee way to much...you are going to hit weak ground balls if you continue to do that; and you will be off balance. keep your weight back.

talk to your coach...he watches you play so he should be able toi help you the best. good luck!

I hope this helped. I don't want to say too much because i play softball...and some things are different...but i do know some baseball

  11. You are overstriding, pick your foot up and put it right back in the same place.  Bite your shirt on your front shoulder while practicing, this will tell you when your shoulder is dropping and you can fix it from there.  Change your mindset from "out of the park" to "line drive" more success will come out of it.  Work on getting your hands from set position to contact in the shortest motion possible.  Practice swinging without a bat in front of a mirrior, if you need to hold something get a roll from a spent paper towel roll, this way you will see what you are doing and can feel what it is like when you swing properly, repeat the proper motion over and over in the mirror so that your body gets it into you memory.
