Not certain about yours , but had same problem, turned out to be the timer.

sounds like you need a new belt~look and see if the belt is stretched.

It could be the belt but some washing machines are direct drive meaning no belt.  Have a loot here for some troubleshooting help:  http://www.repairclinic.com/0088_11_1.as...
