How can I fix my xbox?

I have an old xbox (its not a 360) and the xbox shut itself off after an one or two of use and and when I try to turn it back on it only stay on for a couple of seconds before turning off again. Of course the power doesn't work any more and I have to on it on and off by the reset buttons. And I don't have money to buy a new one. How can I fix this?
