Question:

How can I fix the starter on my motorbike?

I have a Giantco Prince bike but the starter won't work. It starts with the kick start, but only clicks with the button start. If the engine has been running a while the starter button does work... Is there an easy way to fix this?

I accept that's not a lot of information, but I'm quite new to biking!

  1. take it to the dealership

it could be a shorted out fuse

    lose wire

    lose ground

    bad switch

you have to test em' all to know....

  2. It's probably your battery. Sounds like it's charging when the bike's running but it's not holding the charge. If all you're getting is a click with a good, fully charged battery, then it's possibly your starter solenoid.

  3. Sounds to me like you have a battery that won't hold a charge or something is draining it.  Have your battery checked or just try and boost it off from a car (make sure it is a 12 volt bike).  Whats happening is when it runs it is charging the battery, but after it sits the battery just runs back down.

Try this, ride it and let it charge up the battery.  When you park it unhook the battery and let it sit overnight or longer.  Re attach the battery and see if it will start.  If it will, something is draining the battery, if not it is the battery.

  4. Get a Qualifyed Electrition to Sort your Motor Bike Problems

Use your local YELLOWPAGES DIRECTORY FOR an Electrition nere you.

  5. battery needs charging or replacing

  6. YOU HAVE GAVE US GOOD INFO..but only clicks with the button start.

    100% its your battery.

take your bike along to a dealer who will test  your battery they will check to see if its recharging if it is and  the battery is still getting drained ask them also to do a drop test..testing the batterry under a load..

they should do that free of charge for you.

but the cure is going to be a replacement battery. how old is your batt / bike.. most batts these days  have a few yrs guarantee.yours may still be covered.

usually a 6/10 mile ride is enough to recharge the batt ..

  7. Had exactly the same problem on my honda 250 - turned out to be a corroded battery terminal so battery discharging. Your horn is probably weak  or not working . Check fr a loose or corroded connection or recharge/ replace battery.
