I'm a guy in 10th grade, and I'll be 16 in november. Here's the thing. I'm only about 5'5, I weight 105, and I'm trying to gain some good muscle and weight. Me and my mom went to GNC today to buy a protein powder (I preferibly Freak Fix Muscle Whey) and she said that she does not want me to get it. Her and my sister are saying that it won't make a difference, but I've been reading a lot of reviews on it, and everyone says that it helps gain weight and a lot of strength very fast. My mom came to a conclusion that we will see a doctor for a physical first and do research online. Would this help me gain muscle/weight?

  1. The powder will help you gain weight, but the only way to gain muscle is to work out.

  2. You need to increase your protein intake without overloading on fats and carbs.  Try healthy high-protein foods (salmon, eggs, beans, etc) and steer clear of the high-fat, high-protein ones (80/20 beef, fast food, for example).  I have Freak Fix and have been using it for a short time.  Yes, it does have lots of whey protein.  But, it also includes a multitude of over 'additives' supposedly geared towards muscle gain.  Their advertising on their jugs are a bit overblown and geared to getting you to buy the product.  Understand, that the supplement field is not regulated at all by the FDA and a lot of B.S. can be put on the side of a supplement that's not true.

Buying a supplement is fine, but remember it can have side effects (constipation, stomach cramps, etc.) can happen with them.  The most that you need is protein and healthy calories, pure and simple....and of course, weight training.  Buy some whey protein, not the jacked versions of it (Freak Fix, for example) if you need extra protein in your diet.

And to let you in on a little secret....I'm losing weight while using Freak Fix (lost 6 pounds while I've been on it), so I'll be switching off of it.
