How can I get Commander Keen to work on my computer?

I recently downloaded the commander keen series on my PC (I have Windows XP). When I open it, I get the purple screen that tells you what mode/software/sound system you have that says press any key when ready. However, when I press a key, the screen will go black like its about to open it, then close it all together. Any suggestions?

It is a great program that runs dos games on your computer. Download it here www.dosbox.com then follow the insertions. You should soon be abale to play those great games. When I was 2 and a I stared playing commander keen. Loved it ever since. Hope you have fun.
