How can I get Employers and Recruiters to start listing Jobs on my site?

I am in the process of updating my website to a job hosting site but not sure how to get the initial job listings. I know where and how to get the target applicants to post resumes but don't know how job boards usually get their initial job listings. What method do people use? Do I need to offer free promotional listings or what? The site is health care related.

  1. Certainly it would be a big incentive to offer a discount on the first ads. You could do something like a reduced price from the going rate in your area, plus an extra free listing to that there's a reason for the recruiter to return to the site at least once.

Calls, faxes, and visits to recruiting agencies and ultimate hirers is the way to get their attention, with some materials you can leave behind with them. It's easier to send a mass e-mail but it's also easy to delete them unread, and besides, people buy from people they "know" (or at least have met).

I'm not especially conversant with the ins and outs of recruiting, but I do know that a job site here in Ottawa promotes its pay-per-listing format rather than pay-per-word or pay-per-inch. Their big selling point is that it's one price even if you write a thousand words in the job description, so maybe that's something to look at. (They market a lot over the radio, which is how I learned about them.)

Good for you, and all the very best.

  2. Please let me know when the site is up and running.  I own my own business and need to recruit from all over the United States.  I would love to post our available positions with your company.  Our website is www.MomsEarn.com

    Thanks!
