Question:

How can I get NCO-MEDCLR off of my credit report?

There is an item on my credit report from NCO-MEDCLR, and for the life of me I don't know if it is legit or not. I have heard about their collection practices and know that they are unscrupulous. Their website says to receive information about an account that the account number must be provided. I only have what shows on my credit report, with the last 4 numbers X'd out. The original creditor is not listed. Also, the account is shown as Closed. Can/should I still send a Validation letter?

I would like to have this removed from my credit report but am not sure how with missing information. If the debt is legit, I would have no problems with paying it, but as I said, it is shown as Closed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. im here trying to find the same thing out, if its real or not. My boyfriend and I went to rent an apartment and were denied becasue of poor credit... I know mine is excellent, so we looked up his and it said poor. He always pays everything on time and now this. Its because of a $22, $30, and $20 charge to NCO-MEDCLR that was due in april 2005... and since it has been 3 years, it has DEMOLISHED his credit. There has to be a way to fix this mess....

    Good luck

  2. Hi,

I used "Credit Solution" to settle my debt and avoid bankruptcy .They managed to reduce my debt up to 58%.It's legitimate.I came across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here:

  3. You can use credit repair agency to fix your credit - for example this one - http://creditreport.fateback.com - They can clean lots of such bad stuff from your credit report - and do it much faster than yourself, so your credit will go up fast.

  4. Send NCO a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt stating:

Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am requesting

written validation of this alleged debt

Send Equifax, Experian and TransUnion a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt stating:

Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I am requesting written validation of this alleged debt.

Read up on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and understand your rights:

  5. If it's closed, then it's paid and likely no longer killing your FICO score.  It will still affect your FICO, but an unpaid collection is the thing to really worry about.

Any collection could stay on there up to 7 years so you should still find out if it's yours or not.  You can write to the credit bureaus and dispute it and they should send you more info about who it is, the full account number, etc.  If it is in error, then definitely get that off there!

  6. if reported closed that says it has been paid. yes they are legit but  if the reporting is accurate you can not get the item deleted per the Fair Credit Reporting Act
