Question:

How can I get Princess Leia's hairdo?

I know this totally shows my nerdy side, but I LOVE Princess Leia's wrap around braid hairdo in "Return of the Jedi". Unfortunately I'm incredibly uncoordinated and my hair is in layers starting at my chin and the tips reaching about an inch below my shoulders. Is there anyone who might be able to give me a step by step? I'd greatly appreciate it!!

  1. You should do it when your hair is wet, (not dripping but damp enough)  A good srong hold gel will help you out too.

Put about a quarter size amount of gel in your palms and rub in around, then start raking it through your hair.  From ends first then up into the roots.  Comb through your hair to make sure that it is evenly distributed.  Take a comb and make a center part from forehead bacck to your crown and then back to the nape of your neck.  pull each side into a tight pig tail just above each ear.  Secure the tail with a hairband.  Re-apply a little bit of gel to the tail ends and then make each tail into a braid.  Holding on to the braid end start to wrap the braid in a circle around the band that is holding the pigtail in place.  Secure the end of the braid with a bobby pin and the rest of the bun with a few bobby pins.  The other option is to go to a beauty supply and get some pre-made hair buns... they really do sell them!! that way you could just get your hair into the pig tales and then clip on the bun!

  2. shove your head in a blender.

  3. well since your hair is not that long you can get fake plait hair pieces that you could use for the front part of the hairstyle which you would just fasten into your buns with bobby pins. So part you hair then pull it into to pigtails using clear elastic hair ties so they aren't seen and don't ruin the hair do. Then plait the pigtails and tie them off with clear elastics. wrap the plait around so the end is in the middle and put an elastic around the bun. You then can insert hair pins into the buns on each side to make them sit better and not so puffy.

    Hope this helped

Good luck I'm sure you will look awesome

  4. from what it looks like in the picture, you'll need to put all of your hair in a low side ponytail on the right side and braid it. then bring it over the front of your head an inch or two from your hair line and secure it using bobby pins.
