Question:

How can I get Yahoo to release a domain from a canceled account?

Yahoo canceled my account some time ago. As per their terms of service, I was given no warning prior to this occurring. However, they continued to charge me after my account was closed.

Any inquiry to anything at all about my prior account has been answered with a form email (though a different name has been at the bottom each time).

As per the terms of service, Yahoo reserves the right to transfer domains to itself in the event of a canceled account, yet they have not done so at this point. If they're going to transfer rights to Yahoo, that's fine, but sitting on it while it's still registered to me, while giving absolutely no answers to any questions, is nothing short of domain theft in my opinion.

All I want is to be done with Yahoo, their nonexistent customer service, and their "we cancel accounts just because, and continue to charge you for it" business practices.

Can anyone offer a suggestion (besides wait for the registration to expire)?

  1. You should just be able to call them and have them release it to you.   They might make you wait 6 hours. Then you should get an email from Melbourne, with your domain name access number, for you next registrar.  Make sure you ask them the email address they'll be sending your code to.
