  1. have whoever wants to join sign their name on a piece of paper and have them write a quick sentence about why they want to have a dance team at your school. the more people who do this, the better! also, try to find a teacher, conselour, librarian, etc. who will agree to be your advisor. when you go to persuade him, bring one or two other girls who want to be on the team and the advisor and bring your paper with the list of names. give him good reasons why a dance team would be good for the school (makes students more involved, good exercise, dance team can perform for free at school functions) and hopefully the principal will let you! remember to be professional and polite. hope i helped  and good luck!  =D

  2. What I would do is get a petition going. Have everyone sign it, not only those who want to join it but those that would just like to see one at your school (teachers too.) Find a teacher or staff member who would agree to be your adviser. Talk to some local choreographers about what their rates are and brain storm ways to be able to afford a choreographer (they are expensive.) Together with your adviser and the members draw up a contract of rules and procedures that each member and their parents would sign. Once you have the whole package together (adviser, choreographer, members, a captain, a place to practice, and ways to earn money, the petition, and the rules contract) write an essay explaining how having a dance team could positively impact the school and submit it to the principle also asking to meet with him.

Be open to compromise to. He may have a few different ideas on how your new team should run, don't be rude or bullheaded about them. Good luck!!

  3. Write a polite letter to your principal sounding as mature as possible.

First do some research at your school and see what it will take to start up a club.  You may need to discuss this with a teacher before you take it to the administration.  Most likely you will need a sponser, so you will want to pick a teacher who you know very well, who likes you, who will enjoy the dancing you'll do and who has time to supervise you whenever you are working with the dance team people.

In the letter or email, discuss why the dance team would be beneficial to students (good exercise, teamwork, extracurricular benefits, etc) and be sure to include the fact that you would accept EVERYONE into your team unless you are thinking of more of a try out and compete type of thing.  You could do this, but since it is an elem.  school, I think it should be an open club...your principal would probably not let you do it if it was closed...not till middle or high school at least.

Lastly, be sure you have time to committ to this and make sure you think you are ready for all the dancing!  Since you are presenting this idea  a lot of responsibility will fall on you from now on.

Once your school allows you to do this and works out the details (permission slips, space for dancing, etc) you can make posters, make announcements, and even do a dance for your school or something to get them interested

    Excellent idea and good luck!
