Question:

How can I get a dance team started?

I want to get a serious dance team started at my elementary school.

I'm in eighth grade, so I'm among the oldest at the school.

We already kind of have one, but it is in no way what I would call 'serious'.

I want to have one that would dance for at-school sports games.

How should I ask either my principal or the teacher currently in charge of the 'dance team'?

I already know a lot of other girls who would join!

What are some points I should add?

About fitness, encouragement for school teams, etc.

tell your principal that you would dance for free at school games and functions, which will probably encourage more people to come to the function which would raise more money for your school.

you can also have everyone who wants to join sign their name on a paper and show it to him (and maybe have them include why they would join and why it's a good idea)

be polite when you talk to the principal, and make sure you have lots of good reasons. (example: get more people involved in the school)

since the dance team you ahve now isn't "serious" i would have two dance teams for the school... one for grades 1-5 and the other for 6-8. that way, you can still have one just for fun for the little ones, and have a serious one for the older girls with real dancing. make sure to find an advisor for both teams before you talk to the principal.

if all of this fails, im asuming that next year you will be in high school, and all of the high schools i know of have a dance team.

    hope i helped!!! =)
