How can I get a death certificate with VERY limited info?

Question

I am trying to get my grandfather's death certificate but we have NO details. He left his wife and daughter (my mother) in Italy to come work in Canada and died ; we don't know where or when and his wife died shortly after, making my mother an orphan and she never got the records.

It was in the 60's at some point, I THINK. There are no living relatives that have any details and I need my grandfather's death cert. to get my dual citizenship but they ask for the place and date of death.
