  1. The dog dosen't JUST cost $700 dollars. You have to pay for shots and food as well. Try getting a job. Or if you are not old enough, sell things. Other than that you are just going to have to wait.

  2. If you cannot afford the upfront purchase price. You can't afford the dog. Dogs cost THOUSANDS of dollars yearly.

Just yesterday I had to take my dog the the emergency vet early in the morning. He was running a fever & had an infection. It cost $83 just for walking in the door. $50 for blood work. $100 to have him put under anesthesia, $50 to have the infection drained and then another $70 in medication as he needed painkillers, steroids, and antibiotics. That was 400 dollars. Situations like that can happen at ANY time and aren't something you can "save up for".

It wouldn't be fair for the dog if you couldn't afford all the things he needs.

Maybe you should rethink getting a dog until you are more financially stable.

  3. One thing you can do is get to know the dog people in your neighborhood and offer to water, feed, and walk their dogs. That way you get to spend time with some nice neighborhood dogs, and you may even get paid for it. You can then save that money to get a dog later on.

  4. If you can't afford to buy it, how do you expect to take care of it?

  5. Here's a concept:  try adopting from an animal shelter.  There are just about all kinds of breeds available at most, and for lots less money.  Plus, most of those dogs have been either abused or neglected, and will eventually be put down if they can't be found homes.  So you'd not only be getting a dog for yourself, but also saving a helpless dog's life.

Can''t feel badly about that, so long as you work at being a good owner, and a good alpha.

  6. you do know you will need 3X that to afford the stuff it needs and the vets fees? Get a job?

  7. ummmm... get a job.

if you can't afford the fee, you can't afford the cost of owning a dog.

  8. You don't just "save up" for a dog. You need to have a large supply of cash at hand for monthly fees and emergencies. Buying the puppy is only the beginning!

Best way to be sure you have enough for pup, supplies (add $200 to your total up there for the first few days), vet care (first check, add another $200), monthly fees (about $100+ a month), and emergency fees (should have a grand or more saved up)... is to get yourself a job.

There is no way you'll get this amount of money in a short period of time (unless you're an able adult with a college degree.) So i would set your sights on saving up a crapload of money and going for a dog in the next year or so.
