I plan to go to school and I did the Pell Grant thing and that money will run out eventually? I was wondering how I can get a grant from the government. I know they give out grants to people who wants to start new businesses and help people pay bills and stuff like that. I know they give out grants for education too and I wanted to know if anyone knew how to go about getting a grant from the government legally?

Could anyone possibly tell me who should I talk to and where I should go, what I need to look up?

  1. Grants to start new businesses and help people pay bills -- that's a MYTH. Otherwise, not a single American will have any debts or bills to pay bec. they will all go to the government and the government will pay them. That's the lie being spread by scammers.

Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/

You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant -- this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant

    http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachme...

Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.p... at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for women of your age

Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov  and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.htm...  , you may want to explore private foundation grants

    Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

  2. The Pell Grant IS the government's educational grant program. That IS the grant they "give out" for education. If you need to supplement the funds, you can take out a student loan. Investigate your state's educational grant program as well.

Once you fill out a FAFSA, your SFA Adviser will put together a package making the best use of all the aid available to you.

Any questions you have about your aid package, should be directed to your SFA (student financial aid) Adviser.

  3. Pell Grant is from the government and it can't run out because it is used specifically on your tuition. You only get money back if you have any left over from tuition and there isn't a cap on how many semesters you can receive it.

  4. Some departments have grants, endowments, and scholarships you can apply for in addition to your Pell Grant.  Some states have CAP grants of $950 a semester too.  Talk with your financial aid office.  You can also get Stafford loans; work study.  Look for ways to SAVE money everywhere--used books, cheaper food, carpool, sell car, do extra work.  Good luck.
