How can I get a job as a sonographer?

I was reading online and it read that I may not need school. It said something about getting a job at a hospital and they'll train you. Is this true? I think it would be a very cool job. I haven't gone to school yet, and I wasn't quite sure what to go for. I'm almost 22. I would like to be a gynecological/obstetric sonographer. Is this a good career with the economy we have now? Sorry for so many questions. I appreciate any answers! Thanks!

  1. There is good money in it. ALot of the bigger hospitals offer programs to train you as a tech. The only catch is you have to commit to them for 18-36 mos depending on the hospital.  You just need to call and see when they offer programs. Nurses and techs can always find jobs even with the economy the way it is.
