Three weeks ago my wallet was stolen with my driver’s license, id cards and social security card. Because of this, I haven’t been able to get a job at all. The only id I have is my birth certificate. I have no money at all and I am living with a friend until the end of the month. I don’t even have the money to get my drivers license back. I’ve been looking online for “off the books jobs” but there hasn’t been any luck. I have no family to help me or any other friends. I am also 8 weeks pregnant with my first child. I haven’t had any medical attention or any pre natal care at all. Some days I only eat one meal some days none. I know my story may seem unreal, but please believe that I am in desperate need. The only thing I can do is cry all day and night and pray to god that something may change. I have asked everyone I know to help me and one person let me stay at their home for a few weeks now. Please believe me when I say that there is no one else that I can ask for help. Im thinking maybe I should to go dept. of social service or to a homeless shelter or agency. I need help and I need to find out if my baby is okay more than anything. I don’t even have the money to get my drivers license back. I am asking everyone to say a prayer for me and please give me advice on where to start. Thank you. God bless.

  1. Did you file a police report?  If not, you should.  Then go to the DMV and let them know that your wallet was stolen.  Take your birth certificate.  Also go to see the congressman from the area where you live and explain the situation.  He/she can intervene to get you a hardship replacement of your driver's license.  The problem you will have is that with so much identity theft, someone else might be using your identity.   Your governor's office should have an identity theft task force that could help you.  Also, if you know your social security number, you can go to the social security office, taking a copy of the police report showing that your wallet was stolen and the office will initiate replacement proceedings.  It shouldn't cost you anything!  Additionally, you can go to a homeless shelter, with your copy of the police report, and they will help you get temporary shelter.  One other place would be the Salvation Army and/or the Red Cross.  Both organizations deal with people who have lost information due to floods and other catastrophes and therefore they are, maybe, in a better position to help you than about anyone else.  In the future, do not carry your social security card in your wallet.  Good Luck!  But file a police report immediately, if you haven't already, and then get a copy of the report to take to the DMV, social security office, etc.

  2. 1.  Put the crack pipe down.

    2.  File a police report.

    3.  Go to the social security department and report your card stolen.  They should be able to reissue your Social Security card.

    4.  Get another drivers license.  You need to report it stolen.

    Good luck

  3. Assuming you are in the US, it is not legal to employ you without ID.  As others have stated, you SHOULD have already reported your wallet stolen and taken steps to REPLACE your ID.  If you are not sure how to do this, contact the DMV and Social Security office.  Between the 2, they can walk you though everything you need to do.

  4. 2,3, and 4 were good suggestions from the first answer.  You should definitely see what services are available to you.  Everyone needs help in some way or another during their life.  Also, you should file for public assistance, also known as welfare.  The first thing you need to do is get your identification in order, however.  Starting with a police report like the first answer said.  And since it's been three weeks since it happened, you need to do it NOW.
