Question:

How can I get a raise?

I have been working at the same place for years, and I have been hoping to get a raise. I haven't told my boss yet, so I have been wondering how to tell him politely. I don't want to sound arrogant, but I don't want to be a push over either! I really don't know how to tell my boss that I want a raise. Any ideas?

  1. Have you been doing an excellent job?  Have you received excellent reviews? Can you demonstrate to your boss that you are valuable?  Have you made the company money -- i.e. by reducing costs, increasing sales, improving customer experience etc.

If the answers to those questions are yes, then compile some information about your accomplishments that have helped your employer and, politely, tell your boss what a good job you've done and that you think you deserve a raise -- then ask for one.
