How can I get a social worker to get what I need?

Yeah, no one can answer your question without knowing why you need a social worker.  I agree with the post that said go to an organization that deals with your needs, but can't get more specific than that. Generally you only get a social worker if you are:mentally disabled, disabled due to mental illness, disabled due to drugs/alcohol, physically disabled, just out of prison or homeless.  There a few more specific categories, but those are the big, more common ones.

I work in social work. You have to have a specific need to get a Social Worker so I suggest you expand you question.

You can start with ringing your local council and ask for their social services department as you have to be referred.  Usually your G.P. can start this for you but if not just ring your Council for advice.

Failing that ring the one stop shop and ask their advice, they will have certain numbers for your own area.

The best place to start would be to find a group that helps with your specific problem.  Often you can find out what groupmdoes that by callingt your local United Way for a referral.  They can tell you who helps with your type need and how to get in touch with them. If that does not work doasearch at  http://www.altavista.com/web/adv using the type problem as the phrase and advocacy organization and your city or state name as the key words.  For example if I search Georgia advocacy organization homeless children I will get among other things web sites for more than 10 helping organizations (along with other things that are not anything  want so I skip over them) I can them check toose sites for contact info.   If I do the same search but use mentalhealth instead of homeless children I find organizations that help people with mentalhealth issues.  Contact these places,explain why you need a social worker's help, and they  should be able tell you how to get the help you want,.
