How can I get a sound system on the beach?

I am getting married on the beach this summer. I don't have enough money to hire a DJ or rent a bunch of expensive equipment.

I had thought to have my MOH download all the music I want on her computer and then we would play it using speakers. We can power the computer using a battery pack, like a Motomaster pack.

Does that sound like it might work, or am I destined to have a quiet wedding.

I also have no idea how to go about getting a microphone, can that be run through a laptop as well?

HELP!!!!

I'm getting married on August 23rd, 2008

  1. That will work...Or if you are concerned about the laptop...Use an Ipod on a speaker dock, you may get a more consistent sound and it is a smaller system to pack up for your wedding...Best of Luck on your beautiful day!!!!

  2. our son had plans for a beach wedding and ended having the wedding on a large pontoon boat and several other boaters surrounded the pontoon boat and the ceremony and music was heard all over the beach.  after the ceremony the bridal party stripped the bridal wear (had bathing suits underneath) and jumped in to the ocean.  it was a blast

  3. I would go with an ipod on a speaker doc.  I'm sure they have battery powered ones.  Or you may want to look into renting a generator for the day and then you don't have to worry about batteries dying.
