How can I get a stain out of this shirt?

I don't know what the stain is, but it's brownish orange. It's probably salad dressing or something. It's a white shirt with little pink & purple polka dots. It's 97% Cotton, 3% Spandex if that helps. The shirt has been washed and dried a couple of times with the stain on it.

How can I get the stain out?

Thank you!

  1. I am a mother of three children.  I have found that the best thing for stains is Dawn dish soap.  The regular one.  Put some on the stain, rub in good and let sit for about 30 minutes and wash.  Also great for grease stains on clothes.  Even after you have washed and dried. Best of luck!

  2. the stain may actually be from bleach, or maybe not. There isn't a whole lot you can do after its been dried, but maybe try oxyclean, it might work.

  3. Pretreat with SHOUT then throw in wash  with TIDE.

  4. I know dawn dish soap works on just about everything. I also use a product called Zout. It is an off brand of Shout but works better. The only place you can buy Zout is at a HyVee store. My husband works in a foundry and somtimes (accidently, so he says) wears his good shirts to work. The shirts come home with rust and all kinds of other black stains on them. I put Zout on them, let them sit for about 10 minutes and then wash and dry as usual. You could also try taking it to your local cleaners, they maybe able to get it out.

  5. This is a hard one since it has been dried. Once it is dried the stain sets in.

Place in a bowl of very hot water to open up fibers in material with about a 1/2 to cup of vinegar. Then, take out and with very soft toothbrush and baking soda softly scubbing, then back into water and vinegar.

I have, also, had good luck with a paste made from Cream of Tarter and vinegar or Cream of Tarter and Hydroperoxcide. Put about a tablespoon of Cream of Tarter, in small bowl, and start with very small amounts of the liquid, of your choice, until it makes a paste. Put it on the stain and softly rub with toothbrush. Add water if it begins to dry out.

Or one more...try plain 'ol white toothpaste. No gel or all the other stuff. I use white Colgate paste. This stuff can get stains off of counter tops and lots of other stuff!

If after the first one doesn't work or whichever one you try first, DO NOT DRY, just rinse out and go to next one.

    Good Luck
