How can I get alerts in my mobile phone when i receive new mails in my gmail inbox?

I donot want to get the email to my phone, but only alerts about new mail coming in my gmail inbox. I want to know specifically about gmail now. Will it cost to get alerts in mobile phone and if yes, how much?

  1. It is not free. You must subscribe with your service provider and also must have GPRS enabled mobile phone.


  2. Auto forwarding mails to mobile phone as SMS:- In Gmail, go to settings -> Forwarding and POP and set your messages to forward at the mobile-number-***-email. But i think is chargable
