How can I get an acting agent?

I live in new jersey and want to be an actor. What are some agents near me and how can i get one?

i'm sure you can find an agent in the city but there really aren't many here in nj. i've been having this same question myself. look on the sag website and they have sag franchised agencies in nyc. there are a lot of them so maybe you can just do some research and start submitting.

haha NJ is far from the mecca of acting agents. google them acting agents los angeles california. there are so many but the cheap ones just want your money so dont be cheap

go onto any agencies website, and most of them have offices in NYC. They shouldn't ask for money up-front. if they do, they are stealing form you and are not reliable. Agent get a minimum of 10% of your paycheck per job. Do your own work. Do a web search for Talent Agents in NJ or in your city.  Agents do not make you an actor, you have to be an actor to get an agent. Better have lots of experience in plays and have taken some professional classes and built a good resume before contacting an agent.
