Question:

How can I get baby to sleep ?

He is a really cheerful happy baby - unless he is sleepy! When tired, he cries and squirms and tries so hard to keep himself awake. We used to be able to rock him to sleep but now he just wiggles in our arms and fusses. Nap time and bed time are becoming so stressful! When we try to put him to sleep at the bottle, he spits it out and fusses. Suggestions?

  1. as soon as it is time for him to sleep for the night just abt half an hr earlier give him a warm bath and let him be in the water for at least 10 mins, then rub him dry and apply baby cream gently massaging his body.he wont fuss and will sleep immidietly and soundly and longer too.

  2. Does he have the colic? My son did the same thing and now, I've got a granddaughter doing the same. As they get older they tend to be more fussy at nap or bed time. Here's a couple of suggestions:

    1) I always laid my son/granddaughter on my chest and patted their bottom and sang to them.Or some music at low pitch. I did rock while doing this or sat on the edge of my bed and bounced up and down lightly.

    2) Before bed time give a warm bath in the lavender wash for babies. This seemed to calm my children down.

    3) I always made sure their bellies were full also.

4)Last, just lay him in his crib and leave the room. Do let him cry some, this will teach him you're not going to give in and get him out. (My doctor gave me this suggestion.)

I hoped this helped some. I sure know what you're going through. All new mommies seem to experience the same thing. It take lots of patients.
