Try waiting until they have gone out at night, then boarding up any possible entrances so they can't get back in!

just call your local animal control... They will assist you.

do NOT start a fire !!!!  call a wild-life removal service.  they are in the book and they have the equipment and expertice to do the job safely.   get their help soon...bats carry rrabis and you do NOT want to handle this yourself.

eGo out at sun set and watch them leave. Then go up on the roof with screen and wire, lay the screen over the top of the chimney and wrap what you have hung over the sides with a few wraps of wire. They can't get back in so they go over to your neighbor's house. No more bats in your chimney.
