Question:

How can I get better/neater handwriting?

I'm 24 & think my handwriting should look better... It hasn't improved much, in general, since I left school.

I'm left handed, so use of pens has to be selective so my little finger doesn't get covered in ink whilst smudging what I've just written.

any ideas anyone... courses, CD Roms, helpful websites etc etc

  1. I would just say PRACTICE. That's how we get better at things, no matter what our age. A CD-Rom or website won't help yout get better at writing--WRITING will help you get better at writing! Everytime you have to write something, consciously focus on writing the thing neater. Or, you could go to a teacher supply store and get a writing workbook. It worked on helping us when we were little, right? Maybe it'll help you now (and if anyone asks, you can tell people it's for your little cousin or something:-).

  2. Try learning calligraphy.  It's an art, just as any handwriting is.

Here's a useful sight to help you learn:

Most of all, practise makes perfect!

    Stick with it, friend!

  3. hello there young learner handwriter.

basically your mind and brain learn the cultutral design of writing from an early age, now you will find yourself stuck as you wont properly be able to change this.

i dont expect there will be what you call "cds" of how to write neater but you can always try to find some.

many gurus such as myself learn how to write neatly from the vaginal womb. learn early young sir and thou shall prosper fro eternity.....until you decease.

    good tidings with your venture.

  4. Well, did you ever used to practice on that weird paper with 2 solid lines and 2 dotted lines in between?  So that all of your capital letters as well as your d's, f's, h's, k's, t's etc reached the top line, all of the normal letters fitted in between the dotted lines and all of the long letters, like y's and g's touched the bottom line...  Well, couldn't you practice with that?  It's a really good template for how you're supposed to wrte, and the more you practice with the paper, the better you'll be without.  And, also, writing is a habit - it will take conscious effort and a number of weeks, possibly months, for it to change.  Good luck!
