I'm homeschooling myself 7 subjects and i take Spanish at the college. I'm 16 (11th grade) and when i get done with these 7 subjects and the Spanish 1 I'm taking now and Spanish 2 which I'm taking next semester, I'll have enough credits to graduate a year early. anyway, i should be on day 56, and I'm on day 26 (we just got internet at the house which has had something to do with that). how can i get caught up so i'll be on day Day 80 by December 14th (all caught up like i should be). thanks.

  1. Get off the computer, then open your books and do the work.

  2. You will need to accomplish about 2.25 days worth of work every weekday to get the full 80 days by December 14th. If you will work on Thanksgiving and Saturdays you can go at a bit slower pace per day, 1.8 days of work per day.

  3. It looks like you should just double up each day, if you can. Or work 7 days a week.

You want to be on Day 80 in 5 weeks and you are only on day 26. So, 54 days you have to get done in 5 weeks. Basically, 11 days a week to do. Over 5 days, that means a little more than 2 days' worth. Over 7, a little more than a day and a half's worth.

Is that something you could actually do? Or is your goal too ambititious?

  4. get off of yahoo answers and do your school work.  procrastination is like masturbation - you;re only s******g yourself.

  5. I am homeschooled too....figure out exactly how many lessons behind you are and then how many you would need to complete extra a day to get back on track.

    Good Luck

  6. set goals for yourself...dont try and do too much at one time...set weekly goals ...for example in one week i will do so many chapters...and before you know it you will be caught up... or you can get a calender and  create deadlines for yourself...you just have to make sure your keep up with everything...dont procrastinate or you will get even further behind...and I think it is awesome that you are homeschooling yourself and taking a college course...

  7. I concur with GettingThere.  (It was me that accidentally clicked on the down thumb... sorry, I meant to give a thumbs up!)

  8. Sounds like you might have loaded yourself up with a bit too much work.  That can really get you bogged down.  I also homeschooled myself through highschool.  I was a little too ambitious.  I would load up my work load with about 7 or 8 subjects.  I would be so loaded down I would get burnt out and get behind.  Then I would try twice as hard to get caught up again, which would really burn me out double time.  It's a really bad cycle which will just end you up more and more behind if you don't quit trying to do too much.

Honestly, I think you are way too behind to get caught up by December.  I would suggest that you slow down a bit (And, yes, stay off the computer!  That helps!)

Your best bet for catching up would be to

1.) Make up your mind to stay off the computer until your school work is done for the day.  Period.

2.)  Catch up slowly.  Work Saturdays until you have caught up.  Or maybe do double work in only one subject each day.  Do you have to get Spanish done by December because it's at the college? Just double up on that, and work on the other subjects each Saturday. Can you take Spanish 2 as a summer course?     That way by the end of the school year your will have caught up without having overwhelmed yourself.

This is what I would have told myself then if I had know what I do now.  If I just would have been content with catching up slowly I would have made it and I wouldn't have been so stressed out.  Getting caught up by December is not worth burning yourself out over.  Anymore behind, and you would just have to take another year anyway, which is what you're trying to avoid.  Maybe it is not a bad idea though.

Just a suggestion. and I hope this helps.

  9. Well, get off of this site, for one thing - it is time consuming!

  10. How can you be homeschooling yourself?  The law requires someone to be overseeing your education.  (A continuation high school, etc.)  In any case, maybe you could promise yourself a "bonus" to motivate yourself.  Something like, if I get up to day 46 by Sunday, I get to watch a DVD.  Or if I get to day 50 in 48 hours, I'll allow myself to go to a friend's house for the evening.  That's how I motivate myself, which is a very hard thing to do.  Another thing is to be accountable to your parents.  Good luck to you and you can do it if you buckle down and work hard!
