I want to be home schooled, but I don't want my parents to teach me. I want to use one of those online high schools that send you textbooks and have you do online tests but I don't really know which ones are good or not. So how should I go about getting out of my high school and enrolling in a homeschooling program?

  1. You DO NOT want to be home schooled! ! !

I am and have been for my whole life, I have no friends and I cant go anywhere. Since I am at home all the time I have plenty of time to do lots of chores and do a lot of babysitting.

My teachers are on a DVDs, I cant ask Q. and they treat me like I am 4. I'm talking puppets in 9th grade English! ! !

and my old math teacher ( on the DVD ) brought in chocolate chip cookies to have me count how many chocolate chips were on each cookie, then add them together, in 7th grade.

one . . two . . three chocolate chips on this one & one . . two chocolate chips on that one. Three plus two is what?? thats right! it's five! ! ! Good Job! ! !

But that might be just Bob Jones, I guess other home school stuff could be different.

If you really want to you can probably look it up online.

But first you need to find out what the homeschool laws are for your state.

  2. Check the home school laws for your state.

    www.hslda.com

And then you can check to see if connections academy or k12 is in your area, as well. both are great online programs, i have heard. :]

  3. I have homeschooled my kids for years and they have tons of friends.  There ARE homeschool communities out there you just have to take the initiative to search.  There are some good online programs but they can be pricey.  Will your parents support you in this financially and encourage you?  Your parents might have to have some input and homeschooling is not easy.  My middle school son homeschools about 5 hrs a day and the high school students in our homeschool  group put in just as many hours as a traditional school student.

Sometimes local community colleges will allow homeschool students to do 'labs' for science and math.  It's not very common but getting more and more attention.

If you are involved in a church you might see if there are other homeschool families there to get involved with.

Your social life is what you make it.  If you want to keep contact with your current friends from school then you will have to take the initiative.  the 'out of site-out of mind' phrase can be used here at times.  But also, like I said, there ARE other homeschooling teenages out there it just takes some gumption to find them.

Also, you are basically preparing for college/university.  Your primary focus should be on your grades and developing independent study habits.

    Good luck!

  4. i do james madison and its darn good, go to jmhs.com and check it out

  5. Run a search on "cyberschooling in (insert your state here)"
